Here is a diagram showing the things a person can do to be liked. We decide in the first few seconds whether we like someone, based mainly on body language; we then look for whether they are similar to us, and then we continue to like them, start to like them, or start to go off them, depending on things like whether they are interested in us, and whether they make us feel good when they are around us.
Manipulating these kinds of things would be dishonest, but building them in as habits makes you a genuinely more relateable person. So they are worth practising.
It may not be completely 100% understandable in detail – in which case, come on one of my courses!
