I think you do need some luck, but everyone gets lucky opportunities, the question is whether you take them. Taking opportunities requires being either clever, brave, or stupid! Certainly there are moments where bravery is required, and I’ve been brave at times. …though often verging on stupid as well, or instead. Looking back I can’t believe I made some of the decisions I did, but then, most of them worked out well, and the ones that didn’t were just steps along the way to something else. I will claim the occasional bit of cleverness as well, though it’s less than a quarter of the ingredients!
