You happiness comes from the past, the present, and the future
Your eudaemonic happiness is the sum of how you feel about the past which has led up to where you are now, your hedonic happiness is what you are doing right now, and on top of these you have your feelings about the future (optimism, pessimism?) – and your negative emotions generally.
You happiness in the present is a combination of your negative emotions (ideally as low as possible) and your feeling of making progress towards a worthwhile goal.
Negative emotions include worry, guilt, anger, shame, regret, envy, etc, and these come from genetics, upbringing, level of skills, emotional intelligence, amount and quality of interaction with other people, and to a degree, recent chance events.
So H = (L + (E x M) + O) / N
where
H = Happiness (total)
L = Life Satisfaction (so far)
E = Energy Level (at present)
M = Making Progress (feeling of)
O = Optimism about the future (expected length and quality of remaining life)
N = Level of negative emotions
.
